Burn them all with Kallistar Flarechild, a long-ranged assassin who can pick off priority targets.
Backstory
“Peace is only possible in a moment. Violence is change, and change is inevitable.”
In the world of Indines, war and conflict are a fact of life. The nations covet war mages for their ability to unleash powerful spells of mass destruction. Few sorcerers are able to control such incredible forces. One such prodigy is Kallistar Flarechild. Trained personally by the ancient hero Larimore Burman, descended from the primordial elemental herself, Kallistar is capable of tapping into her elemental heritage to unleash devastation in both battlefields and dueling grounds alike.
Recently graduated from her tutelage, Kallistar steps into a world where her talents have the potential to change the course of history, and where nations with claims of righteous cause vie for her loyalty along lines of mixed heritage and culture.
Pros
- Flexible ability that lets Kallistar and her team win combats with ease.
- Fast long-ranged pokes to assassinate targets from afar.
- Powerful artifacts that any team would love to have.
Cons
- A glass cannon without much defense.
- Risky ability that costs random cards to use.
Gameplay

Kallistar is a glass cannon fighter who is built to do one thing very well: deal damage. Her attacks are fast and have long ranges, letting her shoot spells that pick-off key targets from afar. Kallistar is unique in that she effectively has two abilities. The first gives her attacks more power, while the second gives her a more powerful Assist that rivals even Hikaru’s. These abilities allow Kallistar to effectively upgrade the average power values of her entire team, letting them win combat trades more consistently. However, both these abilities cost Kallistar’s team random cards from their hand. This means that, when used too much, Kallistar’s ability can end up destroying her own team’s plans in the process.
Team Role
Kallistar is a different kind of Assassin. Rather than getting the jump on an isolated enemy in melee, Kallistar prefers to do so from afar, effectively acting as a long-ranged spell sniper. Most long-ranged attacks are often slow. Kallistar breaks this mold by providing her team with a multitude of decently fast ranged options that can easily kill enemies on-sight. Many of her attacks also manipulate who her attacks wound, letting her bluff her intentions or even deal splash damage to multiple enemies in a single strike. If you need enemy Wardens off the board, there is no character better at that than Kallistar.
As a glass cannon, Kallistar’s hyper offense is balanced by her near non-existent defense. If she gets attacked, she’ll often fold to even the simplest of moves. In this regard, she works well with Tank and Support allies who can protect her and fuel her abilities.

Flarebolt

We call this one the “Kallistar Special”. Flarebolt shares much of its DNA with other “covering fire” type attacks like Ryukyuk’s Strafe Gunner. It’s a long-ranged attack that lets the user move out of cover before shooting at their target. There’s just one little difference: Flarebolt is fast. This changes the entire dynamic of this move. Rather than being used defensively to cover for a friend, Flarebolt can be used on the offensive to pick-off a target safely from afar without leaving them much room to react to it or even hit Kallistar back. If the target doesn’t use an artifact to manipulate positioning or speed, they’re pretty much guaranteed to take a wound from this attack.
Telescope is arguably one of the most powerful artillery artifacts in the game. Many long-ranged attacks are balanced by sightlines and objects limiting their effective ranges. Telescope breaks this balance by giving any attack Arced, letting them ignore line of sight for their ranges. This turns any ranged attack into an absolutely menacing threat that’s impossible to evade.
Spellbolt

Spellbolt is yet another projectile attack with decent speed. What truly sets it apart is that it lets Kallistar switch her target after cards have been revealed. This has a lot of unique applications, but most important is its capacity to create valid bluffs and false attacks.
For example, Kallistar can declare a far-away enemy as her target then set Spellbolt as her attack. The opponent will likely respond, thinking she’s about to hit that far-away enemy, only to be blindsided as Kallistar changes her target to another enemy that’s right next to her. Not only does the nearby Warden get wounded, but the opponent likely wasted resources trying to protect the other far-away Warden that was never getting hit anyway. These bluffs would normally never work, but Kallistar’s long ranges and Arced attacks make “false target declarations” like this actual plausible threats, and thus difficult to ignore. Spellbolt is just another piece to this mix-up puzzle and makes Kallistar’s attacks even harder to predict.
Break Potion is a powerful artifact that any team would want, letting them turn any fast attack into a clear win so long as their target is the one attacking. The mere existence of this artifact can often discourage opponents from even trying to attack. This serves dual-purpose for Kallistar as it shores up her terrible defenses.
Scatterbolt

Scatterbolt has the unique property of being able to wound two enemies in a single attack as long as it wins combat. This effectively makes a single strike worth two wins if Kallistar can make this attack succeed. It won’t be easy, given Scatterbolt’s mediocre stats, but with Kallistar’s ability, she can invest cards into the attack to give it more power, turning mediocre into usable. Scatterbolt is a high-risk high-reward option that can turn the tide of any game in a single turn. If utilized properly, it can win Kallistar’s team the entire game (or lose it).
Speed Potion is almost the exact opposite of Scatterbolt. A consistent option, Speed Potion lets you increase the speed of your attacks, making them safer to use. This bolsters offense but also buffs Kallistar’s non-fast fireballs into the fast range, making them more usable on defense.
Lob (Normal)

Lob gives the entire team access to a long-ranged projectile attack with Arced. This alone makes it quite powerful as any Warden can now shoot supporting fire from behind cover. Without much help, Lob opens up the team’s attack options, turning every Warden into a potential threat from afar. Not only does this help the team, but it helps Kallistar, too, as her allies can now protect her more consistently. It cannot be overstated just how powerful Arced projectile attacks are and Lob alone is a reason to put Kallistar on any team.
Backpack is an amazing Artifact that lets the team draw 3 cards if they hit and 1 card even if they don’t! This is one of the few “card advantage” cards in the game and for good reason—card draw is so good in Wardens that we’ve had to limit access to it. If Lob wasn’t enough reason to justify Kallistar’s place on a team, Backpack surely is.
Conclusion
If you need firepower on your team, Kallistar is just the mage to heed that call. With her bevy of long-ranged spells, she can snipe off pesky enemies from halfway across the battlefield. Her destructive power is kept in check by her weak defenses and risky abilities but if she learns to control her power, nothing can stand in her team’s way.
