Welcome to Crossover Collusion, a series where we talk about the crossover games featured in the upcoming Millennium Blades Collusion Kickstarter. We’ll take a look at why we love these games, and how they’ve inspired the cards in their respective Millennium Blades sets!
Kill the Overlord is a game of hot potato. The executioner is out for heads, and the players will have to use their wits and their bribes to keep him circulating around the table and away from them. Once a player can no longer pass the buck, he loses his head and gets demoted to the lowest status in the kingdom. After the Overlord dies, the social hierarchy moves up, with survivors advancing, and the killed players reincarnating back into the lower castes.
Why We Love It
I do like Kill the Overlord, but it would be weird to write a “why we love it” about my own game. So instead, I’ll talk a bit about why APE Games is great and why you should support them by buying this game and others!
Kill the Overlord was my first published game as a designer. As a nobody first-time designer, I was really lucky to get the opportunity to meet with Kevin Brusky of APE Games and have him consider my little card game. Not only was working on Kill the Overlord a great experience as a designer, but Kevin showed me the ropes and the process as well. This experience eventually led me to be able to set up Level 99 Games and make more games!
Where to Get It
The latest edition of Kill the Overlord is available in APE Games’s online store!
Translating it to Millennium Blades
In Kill the Overlord, cards pass around the table, usually inflicting the worst penalty on those players who can’t get rid of them. The Kill the Overlord promos get passed or swapped between you and your opponents, causing unexpected damage to your tableau. Most of them can be passed back, but at a significant cost!
Millennium Blades: Collusion is now on Kickstarter! Come and check it out to get these cards and more!
Special thanks to APE Games for allowing us to feature Kill the Overlord in Millennium Blades!
If you’re excited about this crossover, make sure to tell Kevin “thanks” on Twitter!
